In 2012 it's something of a sad statement on our industry that Java represents 'the good stuff'. Still shockingly little discussion about Python, Ruby, Scala or even PHP despite the fact that those are often the technology choices of companies that build their entire businesses on the web.

Any bets how far into the future do we need to look before the insurance industry realizes there are more (and perhaps even better) options for web apps than just .NET/J2EE?

Looking on the bright side we appear to have collectively moved beyond flash...

Andrew, when a broker or agent is negotiating the transfer of their clients to another market, another carrier, perhaps due to a change in carrier appetite or commission, or for customer service reasons, the carrier must respond with indicative quotes or denials for the thousands of policies that are set to renew in the coming year. The handling of thousands of policy records can be done manually (expensive and time-consuming) or automatically with BookSmart (fast and cheap). When the pricing is provided back to the producer and that producer decides to move to that carrier, an agreement is signed and the "book roll" will occur as each policy renews. Hope this helps.
